The CCT Board of Directors are excited to announce that the long held dream of having our own theatre will become a reality in 2019. Completion of the project at 83 S. Walnut street is tentatively planned for next summer.

Recognizing the need to have the project completed sooner rather than later, the Board authorized the securing of a construction loan. Three local banks: Vinton County Bank (d.b.a Ross County Banking Center), Kingston National Bank, and Rockhold Bank formed a consortium to advance the necessary funds. Representatives of all three institutions were impressed with CCT's efforts in terms of the project work thus far completed, the organization's sound business plan and practices, and our serving South Central Ohio with the performing arts. They all felt this was an exciting opportunity to support not only CCT but the community as a whole.

At the banks' direction, work on the building was suspended until the loan could be executed. Now that it is approved, the next step in the construction process will be to complete the front of the building, weather permitting. This is to be followed by installation of the HVAC system, insulation, dry wall, etc. Should the weather not cooperate, the focus will initially be on inside work. The total project is expected to take approximately 9 months to complete.

While the finished building will be used for CCT activities such as the performance of plays and rehearsals, it will also enhance our ability to properly support our Children's Theatre wing. Flexible seating will also offer the opportunity for dinner theatre shows. In addition, the building will be made available for rental to the public for such things as recitals, meetings, etc. For shows drawing a large audience, such as large musicals, we will continue to use alternate venues.

While much of the project will be completed by construction professionals, there will be opportunities for CCT member volunteers to invest "sweat equity" in some parts of the process, thus saving money. More information regarding this will be made available at a later date. The Board emphasized that on-going fund raising activities are critical and will include the solicitation of donations, grant writing, and fund raising events. Details will be announced in the coming months.

As our 50th anniversary year draws to a close, what a great way to begin the next 50 years!
